Terms of Service
Last Updated: February 14, 2026Welcome to HashPaper, a service operated by Your Legal Indian ("Company", "we", "us", or "our"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the HashPaper website and services (collectively, the "Service").
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the Service.
2. Nature of Service (Not a Patent)
HashPaper is a digital timestamping and evidence generation utility. It utilizes SHA-256 cryptographic hashing to create a record of data possession at a specific point in time.
3. User Obligations
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. You represent and warrant that:
- You are the owner or authorized licensee of the data you are timestamping.
- You will not use the Service to secure illegal content, including but not limited to: hate speech, threats of violence, child sexual abuse material (CSAM), or instructions for illegal acts (e.g., bomb-making).
- You understand that any certificate generated for illegal content is void ab initio (invalid from the start) and affords no legal protection.
4. Zero-Knowledge Policy (Standard Plan)
For users on the Standard (Silver) Plan, our Service operates on a "Zero-Knowledge" basis:
- We do not receive your file: The cryptographic hash is generated locally on your device (client-side). Only the hash string is sent to our servers.
- We cannot recover your file: Because we never possess the original data, we cannot recover your file if you lose it.
- Verification requires the original: To prove ownership in court, you must produce the exact original file that matches the hash on the certificate. Even a single changed pixel or comma will change the hash and fail verification.
For Encrypted (Gold) and Vault (Platinum) Plans, the data payload is encrypted using AES-256 and stored on our secure servers for the duration of your subscription.
5. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law (including the Consumer Protection Act, 2019), Your Legal Indian shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from:
- Your access to or use of or inability to access or use the Service;
- Any conduct or content of any third party on the Service;
- The rejection of a HashPaper certificate as evidence by a court of law or tribunal. (Judicial discretion applies to all evidence).
In no event shall the Company's aggregate liability exceed the amount you paid to the Company for the Service in the past six months.
6. Intellectual Property Rights
Your Content
We claim no intellectual property rights over the data you provide to the Service. Your profile and materials remain yours. Hashing a file does not transfer ownership to us.
Our Content
The HashPaper website, logo, code, and certificate design are protected by copyright and trademark laws. You may not copy or reuse our branding without express written permission.
7. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Bangalore, Karnataka.
We operate in compliance with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and certify records in accordance with Section 65B (Admissibility of electronic records).
