Answers to your questions about
cryptographic legal proof.

Everything you need to know about the HashPaper zero-retention architecture, courtroom admissibility under Indian Law, and how to safely protect your intellectual property.

What exactly does HashPaper do?

HashPaper provides a secure, zero-retention platform that generates a military-grade SHA-256 cryptographic hash of your text-based intellectual property. This creates a time-stamped, unalterable proof of existence that complies with the Bhartiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) Section 63 standards for Indian courts.

Do you store my ideas or code?

No. HashPaper operates on a strict Zero-Retention architecture. Your raw text is processed in volatile memory (RAM) to generate the hash and is permanently destroyed the moment your certificate is emailed to you. We hold the mathematical proof, not your data.

Why must I paste text instead of uploading a Word or PDF file?

Word documents and PDFs contain hidden metadata (like save times, software versions, and author names) that change when moved between devices. If this metadata changes, the hash changes, invalidating your legal proof. By enforcing pure text input, we guarantee your hash remains strictly verifiable on any operating system.

What happens if I lose the raw .txt file you email me?

Because we strictly enforce our zero-retention policy, we do not keep backups of your raw data. If you lose the raw .txt file, you will be unable to reproduce the exact hash in court, rendering the certificate legally ineffective. You must store the emailed .txt file in a secure, backed-up location immediately.

Can competitors see what I am working on via the public ledger?

No. The HashPaper verification ledger is a "Blind Ledger." It only confirms if an exact hash string or Certificate ID exists. It does not list recent entries publicly, and owner names are heavily masked (e.g., N**a K***r) to ensure complete privacy.
