The legal landscape has shifted. Under Section 63 of the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), electronic records require strict mathematical verification. HashPaper provides cryptographically secure, court-admissible timestamping for digital intellectual property, source code, and creative assets.

The Paradigm Shift

Why the old laws failed, and why cryptography is now mandatory.

The Old Era: Section 65B (IEA)

Under the Indian Evidence Act, Section 65B certificates were often treated as mere formalities. Lawyers drafted bespoke affidavits, and courts relied heavily on the oral testimony of the device owner.

As deepfakes and seamless digital editing became ubiquitous, proving that a PDF or source code hadn't been altered became incredibly difficult under the old framework.

Current Law

The New Era: Section 63 (BSA)

Enacted in July 2024, the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam transformed electronic records into Primary Evidence, provided they meet strict technical schedules.

The mandatory Schedule format explicitly requires the insertion of a Cryptographic Hash Value (e.g., SHA-256). Without this mathematical fingerprint, your digital IP is legally vulnerable. HashPaper automates this compliance.

Zero-Retention Architecture

Your text never touches a database. Cryptographic hashes are generated entirely within volatile memory (RAM) and instantly purged.

BSA Sec 63 Admissible

Generates the exact mathematical formatting required for Part A and Part B electronic evidence schedules in Indian courts.

SHA-256 Cryptography

Utilizes military-grade 256-bit hashing algorithms to ensure that even a single altered character invalidates the certificate.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you read or store my intellectual property?

Absolutely not. The HashPaper protocol is entirely zero-retention. The SHA-256 cryptographic hash is calculated using the raw text you paste into our secure engine. Only the resulting 64-character mathematical string is transmitted. We never possess, upload, or save your actual content.

What happens if I change one word in my text later?

The SHA-256 algorithm is a strict one-way cryptographic function. If you alter a single comma, word, or space in your script or code after generating the certificate, the text will produce a completely different hash string. You must ensure your text is finalized before timestamping.

Is this the exact same as a government copyright?

No. A traditional copyright grants exclusive reproduction rights. HashPaper establishes an indisputable Priority Date. It acts as technical evidence that you possessed a specific digital text at a specific time—which is crucial for proving origination in IP disputes under the new BSA evidentiary framework.
